To avoid overwhelming you with too much information, we've intentionally weighted our listings toward resources that are relatively new, up to date, and/or especially relevant to upcoming solar eclipses. We've also considered quality, of course; if an app or software is listed here, we think it's of high quality. If it's not listed here, that doesn't mean it's not of high quality — it just means we can't list everything (or haven't heard of it). Fred Espenak's JavaScript Solar Eclipse Explorer
This tool from the late Fred "Mr. Eclipse" Espenak computes the local circumstances for every solar eclipse visible from a city for any century from -1499 to 3000 (1500 BCE to 3000 CE). When was the last total eclipse visible from Paris? When is the next total eclipse visible from Los Angeles? These questions and many others can be answered easily using this new web tool. Pick a geographic location and search for all eclipses visible from that spot over several thousand years.
